Who You’ll Work With

This is a full-time role that reports directly to the CEO and co-owner of the practice. You’ll interact with the administrative, clinical and provider teams.

Who We Are

Prickly Pear Therapy and Training was founded in 2018 by two Latina Psychologists to create an inclusive healing space where team members, clients, and community members could show up as their authentic selves. We are a Latina and women-owned bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural mental health practice in Austin, TX. Prickly Pear Therapy & Training consists of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Professional Counselors. Our environment is culturally affirming and trauma-informed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to ensure the practice is performing at an elevated level according to the company mission statement and is growing sustainably and profitably.

Second, the Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Prickly Pear Therapy and Training’s administrative department. This role ensures that all administrative functions are running smoothly and efficiently. More specifically you will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Frontline Operations Management: Oversee the operations of frontline tasks, included but not limited to responding to client inquiries, data tracking of client interactions, client satisfaction, client referrals as needed, client consultation meetings, and client onboarding.
  • Insurance Billing: Leading the entire billing and claim process. They are responsible for insurance verification and preauthorizations.They are responsible for the credentialing process of new clinicians, including ongoing monitoring until credentialing is complete. They are responsible for updates to clinic fee schedules and managing insurance contracts along with the billing team. They also oversee communications between admin and clinical team and support the clinical team in troubleshooting needs as they arise (e.g., access to clinictracker, technical support, etc.).
  • Records Management: Ensure that all administrative records are properly stored, maintained, and accessible. They also ensure that all documents are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • IT Support: Oversee the department’s technology needs and ensuring that all hardware and software are properly maintained and updated.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the office or facility. This may include tasks such as arranging for repairs and upgrades, managing vendors, and overseeing the cleaning staff.
  • Marketing Support: Overseeing admin support for marketing calendar and special events (e.g., identifying local events for vending, scheduling and coordinating).

Tasks:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the administrative department
  • Managing the billing/claim cycle of the practice.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Managing and supervising administrative staff
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings, events, and appointments
  • Managing and maintaining office equipment and supplies (as needed)
  • Ensuring that all office facilities meet the needs of the organization (as needed)
  • Managing budgets and financial reports for the administrative department
  • Coordinating with other departments and managers to ensure smooth operation of the organization
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information on behalf of the organization
  • Providing support to upper management
  • Coordinating the maintenance of office records and files
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary

Requirements

As we’re looking for an ideal fit, our next office manager will likely possess:

  • Knowledge of medical group practices operations, terminology, financials and reimbursement policies.
  • 3-5 years of billing experience.
  • A strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnosis codes (ICD-10 and CPT codes) is essential for accurate billing.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), is necessary to ensure compliance and protect patient information.
  • Solid understanding of billing software and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to ensure efficient and accurate data management.

Skills:

  • Skill in planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising.
  • Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.

Abilities:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.

  • Equipment you will need for the job is a dedicated workstation, phoneline, laptop, printer and shredder which will be provided to you by the practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to provide therapy services to our clients.

More specifically, you will:

  • Conduct in-person comprehensive neuropsychological, psychological and/or psychoeducational evaluations.
  • Following evaluation, provide face-to-face feedback sessions (via telehealth or in-person) with the patient (or their legal guardian in the case of a minor).
  • Compile a written report detailing the evaluation findings, diagnosis(es), and recommendations to be kept in the patient’s medical record and to be shared with the patient (or their legal guardian in the case of a minor) and referral source (in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Plans).
  • If desired, may provide educational therapy and/or counseling to clients, maintaining appropriate documentation in the client’s chart.
  • Work with outside agencies, community programs, and educational programs as needed to assist in best client care (in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Plans).
  • Provide coaching to parents/caregivers, when needed, to assist them in advocating their child’s needs in school settings and beyond.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to client sessions.
  • Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the practice.
  • Respond to patients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Prickly Pear Therapy & Training website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such patients.
  • Providers are not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that Therapist will be available to hold 3 assessments per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training. 
  • Attendance at monthly team meetings, monthly clinical consultation groups & other meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
  • Timely complete written records for each client including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, assessment reports, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the client within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). 
  • Charge and collect payments from clients for services provided consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in community events and Prickly Pear’s consultation support with culturally specific non-profit organizations.

Requirements

As we’re looking for an ideal fit, our next therapist will likely possess:

  • Doctoral Degree in counseling, psychology; and
  • Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD) in the State of Texas. Must be fully licensed. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish (not required)
  • Therapists are not guaranteed a minimum number of assessments per week. However, it is expected that Therapist will be available to hold at least 3 assessments per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training. 
  • Willingness to be an in-network provider with Prickly Pear Therapy & Training’s affiliated insurance panel(s)
  • Characteristic and experiences you are looking for for the position

  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to provide therapy services to our clients.

More specifically, you will:

  • Perform on-site and/or virtual clinical counseling services to clients of Prickly Pear Therapy & Training, as scheduled.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to client sessions.
  • Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the practice.
  • Respond to patients’ requests for service or calls within 24 hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Prickly Pear Therapy & Training website. Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such patients.
  • Therapists are not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that Therapist will be available to hold at least 25 client sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training. 
  • Attendance at monthly team meetings, monthly clinical consultation groups & other meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.
  • Timely complete written records for each client including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the client within a timely fashion (by Friday of each week). 
  • Charge and collect payments from clients for services provided consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in community events and Prickly Pear’s consultation support with culturally specific non-profit organizations.

Requirements

As we’re looking for an ideal fit, our next therapist will likely possess:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling, psychology or social work; and
  • Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LPC) in the State of Texas. Must be fully licensed.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred, but not required)
  • Therapists are not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that Therapist will be available to hold at least 25 client sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Willingness to be an in-network provider with Prickly Pear Therapy & Training’s affiliated insurance panel(s).
  • Problem-solving unique challenges experienced by clients.
  • Have at least one niche market for counseling services (i.e., children, teens, trauma, anxiety, grief & loss, life transitions, etc.).
  • Skilled in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Drive, etc.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.

We’re hiring a postdoctoral fellow or psychological associate who can help us more effectively accomplish our mission as an organization. That mission is to create a thriving collective of healers that is inclusive, anti-oppressive, healing-informed and culturally rooted.

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow or psychological associate  to provide assessment services to clients in a private practice setting. This is a W-2, salaried position starting at $52,000. This position has a ramp up period of 90 days.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to provide therapy services to our clients.

More specifically, you will:

  • Conduct in-person comprehensive neuropsychological, psychological and/or psychoeducational evaluations.
  • Following evaluation, provide face-to-face feedback sessions (via telehealth or in-person) with the patient (or their legal guardian in the case of a minor).
  • Compile a written report detailing the evaluation findings, diagnosis(es), and recommendations to be kept in the patient’s medical record and to be shared with the patient (or their legal guardian in the case of a minor) and referral source (in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Plans).
  • If desired, may provide educational therapy and/or counseling to clients, maintaining appropriate documentation in the client’s chart.
  • Work with outside agencies, community programs, and educational programs as needed to assist in best client care (in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Plans).
  • Provide coaching to parents/caregivers, when needed, to assist them in advocating their child’s needs in school settings and beyond.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to client sessions.
  • Abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.

Prickly Pear Therapy & Training seeks a Psychometrician/Evaluation Specialist. As a Psychometrician/Evaluation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality assessment services within our private practice setting. As a valued team member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to clients’ well-being by conducting assessments, collaborating with fellow professionals, and providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and neuroaffirmative evaluations.

This is a W-2 employee position and a salaried position. This position will report to Psychologist Dr. Hurtado.

    Responsibilities:
  • Administer and score assessments to diagnose neurodevelopmental disorders, including specific learning disorders, ADHD, and autism.
  • Conduct at least 3-5 weekly assessments, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Prickly Pear Therapy & Training.
  • Collaborate closely with Licensed Psychologists to conduct assessments.
  • Conduct thorough and culturally grounded assessments that consider intersecting identities and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Contribute to comprehensive assessment reports, offering clear and actionable recommendations for remediation and support.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in psychometric tools and assessment methodologies to continually enhance assessment practices.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of assessments, adhering to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
    Required Skills:
